StockSymbols.org answers a simple question: which company does this ticker symbol belong to? That includes symbols that no longer trade. Tickers are recycled, companies rename themselves, and acquisitions retire symbols every week, so an old ticker in a statement, a spreadsheet or a news article is often hard to trace. Each symbol page lists every company we have recorded under that symbol, the exchange, the type of security, and where the company trades now when official records show it.
Where the data comes from
- NASDAQ Trader symbol directory. The official daily files of securities listed on NASDAQ, NYSE, NYSE American, NYSE Arca and Cboe. These tell us whether a symbol is trading today.
- Historical listing snapshots. Archived copies of those listing files, and of the NASDAQ screener exports, taken at regular intervals since 2015. They give each symbol's former names and its first-seen and last-seen dates.
- SEC EDGAR. The SEC's company ticker list and filer records give the industry (SIC code), headquarters, state of incorporation, fiscal year end, latest reports and former company names.
- TradingView. Optional live price charts on the pages of actively traded symbols. The charts load only when you ask for them.
How to read a symbol page
Active means the symbol appears in the current exchange listing files or in the SEC's company ticker list (for over-the-counter securities). No longer listed means it appears in neither. The usual reasons are an acquisition, a merger, a delisting or a change of ticker.
First seen / last seen are the dates of the earliest and latest snapshots containing the symbol. The snapshots have gaps (notably between 2018 and 2021, and between 2015 and 2021 for NYSE listings), so a company may have traded before or after those dates.
Where the company trades now appears only when SEC records list the old company name as a former name of a registrant that currently has a ticker. We don't guess successors from similar-sounding names.

StockSymbols.org is a reference tool, not a broker or an investment adviser. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Check the details against the company's own filings before relying on them.
Corrections
If a symbol page is wrong or missing a company that used the ticker, please let us know. Include the symbol and, if possible, a source such as an exchange notice or an SEC filing.
